Santa Clara VTA
Bus Stop

Okay, this one will be a bit more detailed as we have more stuff on it then others.

The map above was borrowed form the VTA WWW site (WWW.VTA.ORG).  Click on map for a larger version.

This is the system as of October 1, 2005.  The major sections are as follows: (Listed in order of Opening)

Guadalupe:  Santa Teresa station through the Tasman Station.  This also includes the Almaden Spur, the Almaden & Oakridge Stations.  Originally included the stations between Tasman and Old Ironsides.
Tasman West:   Mountain View station through to First Street (just before the Tasman Station).
Tasman East:  First Street (just after the turn leaving the Tasman Station) through to Hostetter Station.
Capitol:  South of the Hostetter Station through Alum Rock (there are plans to extend this the Eastridge, not on map).
Vasona:  From the split just west of Convention Center through to Winchester (was originally planned to go two more stations, Hacienda & Vasona).

SCVTA has internal route numbers for the LR lines, it is handy to know these when looking up the schedules on their WWW site or IVR system.

Ohlone/Chynoweth - Almaden is route 900.  This is the Almaden Spur.
Alum Rock - Santa Teresa is route 901.  This includes most of Guadalupe, Tasman East and Capitol.
Mountain View - Winchester is route 902.  This includes part of Guadalupe, Tasman West and Vasona.

During the Holiday season, VTA also operates a small fleet of Historic Trolleys (route 920), these operate solely on the segment between Civic Center and San Antonio stations.  They do operate outside of this area in order to turn around on the tracks going into the yard.

For special events VTA will operate trains along othr paths as needed for the event.  For the Grand Prix in 2005 trains were operated from Mountain View to San Antonio, Alum Rock to San Antonio, and San Jose Diridon to Santa Teresa with a bus bridge connecting them through downtown.  The course of the race goes over the tracks and as a result LR cannot operate between the San Antonio and Children's Discovery Museum stations.  What will be done the the 2006 race still has to be decided, but the course for the race will still close the same section of LR.

Pictures to come as I work on them.
