Bus Stop

In the News

It is not often bus stops make the news, but sometimes they do.  Here are some of the stories I have seen or been sent.  Whether to post a story is purely at my discrection.

Sunnyvale, Calfornia, Santa Clara VTA - June 17, 2005:  Baby Born at Bus Stop.  An article in the San Jose Mercury News reports that a baby was born at the line 55 bus stop at Sunnyvale-Saratoga & Homestead on Friday, June 17.  Mother and baby are doing fine.  The couple were on their way to the hospital when the baby was born (after about 2 hours of labor).

Ancorage Alaska - June 4, 2005 - Bus-stop Fuss earns apology:  The mayor of Anchorage has written to apologize to Alaska's Senior Senator for mis charcterizing the transit project at the Meseum of Hisotry and Art as a bus stop.  It is apparently a multi-modal stop with room for three buses and a people mover.  The city apparently orginally asked for $2.5 million.  Reported in the Anchorage Daily News.

Ancorage, Alaska - the $1.5 million bus stop.  The city of Ancorage has been given $1.5 million by the US Government to improve the bus stop at the Museum of History and Art.  Story posted by AP in Early May, 2005.
