Desert Counties

The stops closest to nowhere in California.  This represents to following counties:  Imperial, Inyo, Kern (Eastern), Riverside (Eastern), and San Bernadino.

BAT - Barstow Area Transit

Barstow Area Transit - This is the "transit center", located at the currently unused (by trains) Amtrak Station and Harvey House restaurant; all 3 routes start and end here.  It is across the roadway from the bus bays for Greyhound and Amtrak CA.  In the background is the berm and bridge over the BNSF mainline.  Picture and text provided by Ray Mullins.

Needles Area Transit

Inland Empire Connection - San Bernardino

he Inland Empire Connection is an inter-county service funded by both Omnitrans and Riverside Transit Agency.  Omnitrans currently operates the two lines serving San Bernardino (which stop here), using buses in IEC colors, although sometimes Omnitrans buses are used.  Picture and text by R. Rim Of The World Transit was the predecessor agency to MARTA.  This one sign is on Greenway north of Erwin Ranch Dr.  Picture and text by R. Mullins.  This sign has since been replaced with a standard sign.

Kern Regional Transit

Kern Regional Transit connects Bakersfield with other parts of Kern County, including Mojave, Ridgecrest.  It also connects Kern County with Lancaster.  This district was originally identified as RAT (Ridgecrest Area Transit), but later information corrected the error.

This is a system that serves both Inyo and Mono counties.

Ridgecrest Transit

Ridgecrest Transit provides DAR service in and around the city of Ridgecrest.  Fixed route service in the area is provided by Kern Regional Transit and Inyo Mono Transit.

Imperial Transit

Imperial Transit provides service to Imperial County.

Desert Roadsunner provides service to the Palo Verde Valley (the area around Blythe).

Redlands Trolley

Okay, so they have a bus that runs around Redlands, home of Redlands University and their WORLD FAMOUS WATER POLO TEAM (okay, I may be exaggerating a bit, but they have been Division III champs more then once)..

This stop is located at Orange and Redlands Blvd.  Found while avoiding the fish from the University by G. Araki.

Passtransit

Revised: September 17, 2006

New coopertive sercvice between the cities of Beaumont & Banning to provide serve connecting the two cities.  Found by G. Araki.  They must have been washing the streets that day, after all, it never rains in the desert.
