BUS RAPID TRANSIT

This page is dedicated to the various BRT stops we have found.  BRT routes are usually limited stop routes that are given limited control over the traffic signals in order to speed the bus service up.  They also frequently have schedules that allow the driver to keep going no matter how light the traffic.  Often there are very few timepoints along the routes.  They are usually marked with special stops and use specially marked buses.

The following Districts are included here:

Okay, one of the actual signs while still in captivity (it escaped a little while after being photographed.

Okay, the signs are now appearing in the wild.  This is the stop located at Westbound El Camino Real, nearside of Bowers Avenue in Santa Clara.  The strip saying 522 is still not installed, it will be white with read & blue writing and placed on the standard sign.

Another Rapid sign that escaped into the wild.  This one is located at Eastbound El Camino Real, farside of Kiely Blvd.

I got a few pictures of finished signs with the route number info on the sign.

This is the stop on Santa Clara Street in front of the San Jose Diridon Train Station.  At this stop the Rapid flag is below the sign.

Santa Clara Caltrain Station, one of the few stops where it does not share with the 22 line (the 22 stop is around the corner before this stop).

One of the BRT Artics (a New Flyer) at the Santa Clara Caltrain Station.  2nd day of service.  The Artic with the standard paint job is on the 22 line.

Another BRT Artic, also at Santa Clara Caltrain, this time over on Benton.

VTA's Rapid service began on July 5, 2005 along the El Camino Real/The Alameda/Santa Clara Street/ Alum Rock Avenue/Capitol Avenue/Capitol Expressway corridor.  Possible Future corridors include Stevens Creek and Monterey Hwy.

Revised:  July 9, 2005
